How much does a typical bathroom remodel cost?
The cost of a bathroom remodel depends on the size, materials, and scope of work. On average, a basic remodel starts around $15,000, while high-end projects can exceed $35,000. Check out our Pricing Page for a detailed breakdown on bathroom remodeling costs.
How long does a bathroom remodel usually take?
The industry standard is 6-8 weeks, but we try to shoot for a standard bathroom remodel taking about 3–6 weeks, depending on the complexity of the project. Learn more in our Budgeting for Time section on our Pricing Page
Do I need permits for a bathroom remodel?
In most cases, yes. Permits ensure your project meets local building codes. Don’t worry—we’ll handle all the permit paperwork for you.
Will I need to move out during the remodel?
For most bathroom remodels, you won’t need to leave your home. However, if it’s your only bathroom, we’ll help you plan for temporary arrangements. We do what we can to minimize disruptions to your daily life as much as possible.
What should I expect during the remodel process?
You can expect some noise and the temporary inconvenience of us being in your home, but also regular updates, clear communication, and respect for your home. Your satisfaction is our top priority, so minimizing as much disruption to your daily life, and making your remodel as stress-free as possible is what we have build our business on. Check out Our Process to learn more.
Can I choose my own materials and finishes?
Absolutely! You’ll have full control over design choices, and we’ll guide you through selecting materials that fit your style and budget. If you are looking for more of a hands-off approach, we can accommodate that as well, and can present you with options to choose from instead of you having to shop.
What happens if you find hidden damage, like mold or water damage?
This is a great question, and a common one. Rightfully so. If we uncover hidden damage, we’ll stop work, inform you immediately, and provide a plan to address it before moving forward. We do our best to take note of potential problem areas during our initial estimate and bring them to your attention then so you can be prepared financially if the damage is extensive. Transparency is one of our top values at MBI, so we do everything we can to prevent additional costs during your project, but sometimes things do come up that cannot be seen from the surface.
Do you offer financing options?
We don’t currently offer in-house financing, but we’re happy to discuss payment plans and recommend trusted financing partners.
What’s the difference between a bathroom renovation and a full remodel?
A refresh focuses on surface and cosmetic updates (like paint and fixture upgrades for example), while a remodel may involve layout changes, new plumbing, and structural work. A bathroom remodel is much more extensive than a renovation.
How do I prepare my home for a bathroom remodel?
There is a number of things you can do to prepare which will make life easier for you and for us! Some of those things are removing all personal items from the bathroom, ensuring clear access for our team, and letting us know about any pets or special considerations you may have. We also have a complete guide that walks you through this process step by step. You can find it here in our Guides & Checklists page.
How do I know if my contractor is licensed and insured? Always ask for proof of licensing and insurance. At MBI, we’re fully licensed, insured, and transparent about our credentials.

You will also receive a digital sketch giving you a rough idea of what the bathroom will look like as well once the project is complete.
